IMAGINE A WORLD WITHOUT GENDER BASED VIOLENCE

In 2008, the United Nations launched the campaign "UNITE to End Violence against Women." The signature color of the campaign is orange. As a bright and optimistic color, orange represents a future free from violence against women and girls.

Every year, the "16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence" campaign kicks off on November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until December 10th, Human Rights Day.

The Orange the World campaign calls on people everywhere to wear the color orange and take action to end violence against women and girls in communities, at home, in public spaces, online, and in schools and workplaces.

Each year, ZONTA Club of Greenville participates in Orange the World with an event to raise awareness about violence against women and girls in its many forms and to educate the community about  simple ways to improve gender equality and reduce harmful perceptions that contribute to a culture of violence. Check out our social media posts and "upcoming" events on this webpage for more information about these yearly events.
